Gettorf – ODM-type infrared sensors from EGE measure the energy emitted by hot bodies (e.g. pipes in rolling mills). Cold bodies or movement in the background of the range of vision do not affect detection. EGE provides models with switching temperatures of 350, 650 and 800 °C. A robust IP 68/69 stainless steel housing and O ring gaskets protect the sensors from temperature and humidity fluctuations. The plug connector also provides IP 68 protection. Compact sensors with integrated optics are used at a 2 m or more distance to the measured object. Shorter distances and ambient temperatures up to 250 °C are covered by special fiber optic cables which are fitted with supplementary lenses if required, thus allowing for a separate installation of sensors and electronics.
