EGE has been providing Ex-protected sensors for large-scale industry and medium-sized companies for more than 30 years. As a globally recognized specialist for individual solutions, we are certified according to ISO 9001 (ISO 9001:2015) and have a certified Ex quality system according to ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU.

We offer sensors from our own production for flow monitoring of liquids and gases, level sensors as well as inductive proximity switches for increased requirements and extreme environmental conditions.

The product series in detail

EGE flow sensors for potentially explosive atmospheres

EGE flow sensors for potentially explosive atmospheres enable space-saving flow detection on site and convenient setting of the limit value on the separate evaluation electronics, e.g. in a control cabinet.

The measurement is done without mechanically moving parts using a thermal measuring element. The current flow status is displayed on the evaluation electronics with LEDs.

The devices are used wherever reliable, robust and low-maintenance monitoring of flow values is required. The sensors in the ST 100, STS 100 and STEX product series have ATEX approval and, depending on the version, can be used in gas Ex areas that require equipment for EPL Ga or EPL Ga/Gb. In dust Ex areas, use up to EPL Da is permitted.

EGE flow sensors for gaseous media in potentially explosive atmospheres enable space-saving flow detection on site and convenient setting of the limit value on the separate evaluation electronics.

The measurement is carried out without mechanical moving parts using a thermal measuring element. The current flow status is displayed on the evaluation electronics with LEDs.

The devices are used wherever reliable, robust and low-maintenance monitoring of flow values is required. The sensors in the STS 212 and STS 215 product series have ATEX approval and, depending on the version, can be used in gas Ex areas that require equipment for EPL Ga or EPL Ga/Gb. In dust Ex areas, use up to EPL Da is permitted.

Amplifiers for Ex flow sensors

EGE Ex-amplifiers SZAb are required for safe operation of EGE flow sensors series STS 100 and ST 100. Flow sensors with ATEX approval must be connected to approved Ex amplifier. EGE amplifier for ATEX-compliant operation supply the sensors via an intrinsically safe power circuit and provide electric separation from the mains. The amplifier itself must always be installed in areas which are not explosive.

Optical filling level monitor for explosive areas

The intrinsically safe optical filling level switches UFGSa Ex are ideal for the detection of fluids with low dielectric constant ("DC-value"), such as lubrication oil, hydrocarbons or solvents. Optical filling level sensors detect the change of the refractive index during medium contact at the sensor tip. The sensors with stainless steel housing and glass tip are also suited for the detection of aggressive media, such as solvents. the sensors are available with Ex certification according to ATEX and IECEx.

Intrinsically safe sensors for zone 0/20

The IGEXa family comprises intrinsically safe sensors for use in zone 0 and 20. The EGE IGEX proximity switches are based on the  inductive principle and switch when a metallic object comes close. This family also includes sensors climatic proofed and high pressure cleaning proof for use at extreme ambient temperatures up to + 140° C and down to -60 ° C with protection class IP 68 and IP 69. The sensors are certified according to ATEX and IECEx. They are suited for, position and movement monitoring, the counting of objects and the speed control on conveyor belts e.g. in the field of filling plant, in wood processing, chemical industry, fuel handling and processing

Inductive sensors for zone 0/20 with integrated electronics

Sensors of the family IGEX20a for use in zone 0/20 with integrated electronics do not require an additional amplifier. The EGE IGEX20 proximity switches are based on the inductive principle and switch when a metallic object moves close. This family also includes climatic proofed sensors for use at low temperatures down to -60 °C. The sensors are suited for object detection, position and movement monitoring, the counting of objects and the speed control on conveyor belts, e.g. in the field of filling plant, in wood processing, chemical industry, fuel handling and processing.

Sensors for zone 2/22 with integrated electronics

Sensors in the IGEX22c family for use in Zone 2 and zone 22 with integrated electronics do not require an additional amplifier. This family also includes sensors with a one-piece stainless steel housing. The proximity switches from EGE work according to the inductive principle and switch when a metallic object approaches. The sensors in this family are suitable for presence monitoring, position and movement monitoring as well as counting metallic objects and speed monitoring on conveyor belts.
